Tuscola County Medical Care Community is a 159-bed state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility in Caro, Michigan. Our community is centered in the rural "Thumb" of Michigan, yet is strategically located to also serve larger cities such as Saginaw, Bay City, Lapeer and Flint. Campus accommodations include two 10-bed state of the art houses providing skilled nursing care in a family-style living environment, where every resident has a private bedroom and private bath. The main building offers 16 private suites with resident bedroom, separate living/visiting room and private bath. Also offered in the main building are 2-bed, semi-private "suites" providing each resident with his or her own bedroom area and a shared bath. All rooms are equipped with local phone service, basic cable TV and a VHS/DVD player as part of the room rate. All of our beds are dually-certified, allowing us to provide skilled or basic nursing services appropriate for the individual needs of all of our clients.

Our five nursing units and two small houses are staffed with licensed and registered nurses, as well as certified nursing assistants 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Several local physicians have privileges in our building, allowing residents to continue seeing their physician of choice during their stay with us. Skilled Therapy and Restorative Programs are individualized to allow each resident to achieve his or her highest level of function. Social Services and Activities staff ensure that each resident's psychosocial needs are met in addition to his or her clinical needs. Thirty-six of our beds are contained in two units designated specifically for Alzheimer's Care. Staff in these two units receive specialized training to meet the unique needs of one of our most vulnerable populations of citizens.

Tuscola County Medical Care Community is not just a nursing home, or long-term-care facility. Many of the residents we admit come to us for short-term therapy after an acute episode or hospitalization, and return to their homes when their course of treatment is completed. What a privilege it is to provide inpatient rehabilitation services locally, so that our clients may remain close to their loved ones while regaining strength and function after an illness. And for you tech-savvy residents who want to keep in touch with friends and family unable to visit, bring your laptops! Wireless internet is also offered as part of the room rate.
